Recycling
The Town of Federalsburg has a recycling program to help lower
tax dollar costs associated with the garbage collection and
landfill fees; at the same time to help with the beautification
of the Town of Federalsburg. Containers are located in the
rear of the municipal parking lot off of Morris Avenue for the
voluntary disposal of glass bottles, aluminum, tin, newspapers
and cardboard. Glass recycling is easy and smart. The bottles
and cans need not be cleaned; it is only asked that the metal
and plastic lids be removed.
Snow Removal
The Town of Federalsburg has a Snow Emergency Policy. Residents
are required to remove the snow from all sidewalks within
24 hours after the snowfall has stopped. It is imperative that
residents do not shovel snow into the street; because even though
the snow has stopped falling, the snowplows will still be working
to clear the streets. Any snow that is thrown into the street
could be thrown back onto the sidewalk by snowplows.
All vehicles must be moved from the Snow Emergency Routes,
which are clearly marked with street signs. Any vehicle that
is not removed from the Snow Emergency Route, will be towed at
the owner's expense.
Building Permits
If you plan to do any type of construction to your home or
business, please contact the Town Office prior to commencement
of any work to inquire about a building permit. There are some
items that do not require a permit; however, it is best to
inquire prior to starting a job.
If a building permit is necessary, an application must be
completed and returned with a drawing or sketch of the planned
work. Once this information is received, it is forwarded to
the Middle Department Inspection Agency for review. After
approval, the permit will be issued by the Town Office and you
will be contacted to come in to pay the fee and collect your
permit.
